My name is Bob Ohm and I own Bow Trax L.L.C. I was a fourth generation carpenter in the trades for over twenty years. I was doing a remodel job for Matt McPherson in 1992 and he was just starting Mathews Archery Inc. He was in need of a second employee and offered me a job making wooden grips for his bows. As the company grew I was offered a position managing the String department and was eventually offered a position as international sales manager. Then I began traveling to trade shows and Archery conventions involving setting up displays for our bows. It became apparent to me that no one had designed a way to display compound bows without some sort of hook or hanging device. I looked for about three years thinking that somebody would surely have a better way to display our bows than just a hanger. There was no such thing to be found. As we all know, neccessity is the mother of invention and as a former carpenter I became challenged to build a better system. I called a local carpenter to come down to the factory and explained to him what I wanted to do using some sort of cabinet catch or latching device.Three hours later he came back with a piece of wood with slots every four inches as I instructed him and we cut a cam slot in a cardboard box to set the bootom of the bow in and that was the birth of what is now called the "Bow Trax" compound bow display system. With Matts approval we then made four cabinets that would each hold eight bows and sold them to Mathews for the display booths at the shows, shoots and conventions. It proved to be a success and within the alotted time limits of the United States Patent Office, I began the patent process with the help of a freelance patent advisor. It took about 17 months for the patent process to be completed and we were issued our patent number and we now had something to offer the Mathews retailers to display the bows and save precious space without the use of a hook or dowell. Working a full time job and running a small business in my spare time has been a huge challenge but very satisfying. My wife Marla has been taking care of the majority of the bookwork as orders continue rolling in. We are now working with a full time builder Eric Matson of TAC Laser Engraving & Woodworks under our patented design and the orders are coming in every week. The challenges continue as our sales grow and we now have goals in place that are indicating we may be looking at a very bright future for Bow Trax L.L.C.
